This Course is directed towards the setup and configuration of a productive desktop environment where the end-user is responsible for their primary system administration. The class walks through the installation process with an explanation of the underlying processes. GUI (Graphic User Interface) tools are used for all configurations. The student will learn how to navigate through the administrative tools and use them to configure the system. Typical applications such as e-mail, networking, browsers, printer configuration, and a software updating process will be investigated. Underlying topics such as Partitioning, Logical Volume Management, Security, Updating software, Rescue mode will be presented to give the student the necessary skills to be comfortable with maintaining and administering their system.
